My Little Greek Book Turns One!
Happy first birthday to My Little Greek Book!
I can hardly believe it’s been one whole year since the debut of My Little Greek Book of Food, the little project that started this whole journey!
Just over a year ago, I was looking for a creative outlet to reignite my love for graphic design. I had no idea what I was looking for, but knew I wanted to create something for my family.
Then one day a very specific idea for an illustration of an apple popped into my head.
That one small idea quickly grew into a series of fruit illustrations, and I found myself looking for the right way to bring them together. It was then that I had an idea to turn them into a book.
One thing about my family is that we LOVE books. Our shelves and kindles are full of them: gifts, pre-loved ones from our childhood, and plenty I couldn’t resist buying! (Not to mention what we borrow from our local library).
So my next thought was: with all of these books already in our home, what could I create that we didn't already have?
And that’s when it came to me…a first words book, but in Greek!
One thing that surprised me after becoming a parent was how difficult it was to find quality Greek children's books outside of Greece, and our Greek collection was the one area of our library that felt incomplete.
I suspected other families were running into the same gap in their libraries, so I set out to create a book that would be easy to find, easy to order, and easy to read, not just for little ones, but for every caregiver in their life.
That idea blossomed into My Little Greek Book of Food, and it was off to the printers before I knew it!
Look at how our Little library has grown in one year!
It’s hard to believe that just last month, as we closed out our first year, we released our fourth book (in two formats)!
Looking back, this year has included:
Our debut book reaching #2 on Amazon in its category
4 new titles published
Families in 11 countries welcoming us into their homes
Hundreds of families learning Greek together
Availability online through major retailers including Target, Barnes & Noble, and Walmart
It's been an incredible first year full of lessons, growth, and plenty of ideas still ahead. Thank you for being part of this journey, and for welcoming My Little Greek Book into your homes.
Cheers to Year 2!
I Want to Hear from You!
None of this would be possible without this community, and I'd genuinely love your input on what comes next!
